Ah, Noel! The light-up snowman from Chris' childhood presides over what would be the perfect Christmas picture...
...until, the Golden Retriever!
(Notice how genuinely amused I am, at Chris' expense)
Christmas Eve at the in-laws! I'm wearing a red sari, and there's that hat again (black, furry, with a tiny brim and a pom pom- what's not to love?).
Our Christmas tree at home- it's fiber optic and changes colors constantly! We scored this one many year ago at the K-Mart in Oakland.
At my family's house: That's my dad in the center, and my mom front right. We are all wearing the paper crowns from inside of our traditional Christmas Crackers (you can see an opened cracker at front of the picture).
My mom's trifle, decimated. This whole thing was gone within 12 hours. I think I had some for breakfast. (Trifle= lady fingers marinated in sherry, custard, mandarin oranges, jello, and fresh whipped cream. Oh yeah.)
My mother-in-laws incredible cookie tray. This woman is a serious baker. The best cookie this year had an actual mini Snickers bar hidden inside of it!
My mom's tea cozy. Me and my friends used to wear this as a hat.
Shopping in Berkeley on the way home-- note token long-haired, guitar-playing hippie and young hipster frame left. Yes I look like a crazy Russian-Mexican peasant. That's in now, didn't you hear? Let's get a closer look at the Pattern Madness:
I can't wait til I am 80 years old and my fashion gets even weirder. I suppose I will also have about 23 more cats by that time.
Dress from a fabulous lil' Etsy shop that I just discovered, Eclectic Liz!

My friend Joey has one of those fiber optic trees, they are so cool! I think he got his on sale at Big Lots a couple of years ago :) I'm so intrigued by the hidden snicker bar cookies, that sounds so up my alley!
A happy happy new year to you Sasha!

Bwa ha ha ha ha! GOLD!
Your mother's trifle looks positively divine darling! I really love trifle, it's such a tasty and decadent dessert.
ALSO - loving the Russian-Mexican Peasant ensemble - it looks really good! I'm also looking forward to getting a little ballsier with my ensembels as I go along :D
Xx

Much to say in response to this post. (I haven't yet reacted to you-know-what...code word: feather. You might know that it's because you stun me by being such a rare and beautiful person. Thank you.)
I want to commend your family's use of Christmas crackers. Oh dear, that's lovely! I think they are one of the coolest things for Christmas and it makes sense that your family would use them. It's hard to find traditional xmas crackers near me that aren't made in China, but one year perhaps my family will get lucky. There's a local store that has the kind made in England, but they sell out like hotcakes. It's amazing because I rarely hear of anyone who uses them in the neighborhood, yet they are gone from this store in one day. Could there be a pack of British and Celtic descendants cruising town each year waiting for the influx of crackers? Perhaps. Or maybe they were brownie elves. Either way, I'm really happy to see your family in crowns. You're royal in my eyes even without the visual.
Your fiber optic tree reminds me of the magic wand things that kids used to wave while seated in the audience at the Ice Capades. This was in NYC in the 1980's. You guys are so cute.
Your mom's trifle (decimated) was hard to identify...so... thanks for listing the ingredients. Sherry & lady fingers sound really nice together. Sounds like something that could've been served at the tea party for Alice in Wonderland.
Back again soon. Keep up the great blogs.
