It was a banner year for fruit trees in Nevada County. I just love this abandoned orchard with the vibrant orange persimmons and red Hawthorne berries. While it is a shame to see these trees neglected, the birds don't mind one bit, and they were busy eating persimmon jam when I stumbled upon this scene and interrupted them!
It is hard to decide what I like best: late fall backgrounds with the incredible splashes of color against bare gray branches, and the dramatic clear blue light; spring, with the meadows filled with succulent sweet peas, and the shimmery, yellow-pink sun through leafing trees; or summer, with the long tall grass and endless golden evening hours. I will just take each season as it comes!
mmm...i love persimmons! my dad brought home a nice big plump one about a month ago and both nat and i couldn't wait to get to it! yummm...
