This weekend, Chris and I went to a party with the most awesome theme: it was a "Black And White Party", but not cause it was fancy-shmancy, or a charity ball... it was because the whole house was transformed into a blacklight wonderland! If for some reason you have missed out on the joy of the blacklight in your life, everything white or glow-in-the-dark lights up and "pops out" under it, giving an almost 3-D effect against the darker background. The hostess also provided blacklight-sensitive fluorescent face paint, and the house packed with painted, glowing people was pretty much the coolest visual effect I'd ever seen. Here are our outfits- sorry, we didn't get any pictures with the blacklight effect, so you will have to imagine:
I would like to take a moment to applaud myself for thrifting these 80s sweats for Chris:
This awesome 1960s dress is actually for sale soon in the shop- I just "borrowed" it for the party! It has 1920s people on it and the best designer name: "Put On, California"!
No, I didn't cut my hair and dye it black, I just re-discovered a favorite wig! I was using it for shop pics earlier this day. It's kind of an experiment, brought about by the fact that I just can't get my long, brown locks to effect a convincing "mod" style. I am keeping my hair natural right now, because I dyed it (and had it every length and style imaginable) for many, many moons, and I figured I'd hang out with my natural color until I go grey (or get bored), when I will start back with the colors again. If I wasn't so firm in my commitment to natural tresses, however, this IS the style I would sport right now!
The jury is still out on whether I like the pictures with the wig. I think they look great in thumbnail size (which means, in the Etsy Search engine), but they kind of look like, well, I'm wearing a wig, when you see them full-size. Is that bad? People used to always wear wigs when they went out on the town in the 60s... my mom had a whole box (hence the life long obsession)! These days I think the connotation is more like, "weekend warrior"/"Bridge and Tunnel Crowd"/"party amateur". Hmmm. Well, I'm going to sit with it a bit more. Meanwhile, here I am wigging out!
put a flower on that wig an dyou've got it made!!

OMFG! Bridge-and-tunnel! I literally "LOL'd" at that :3
Those sweats that you found for Chris are amazing - very jealous.
I think the fact that you can sort of tell it's a wig is sort of perfect and awesome - and I think the photos are amazing as usual.
