My Dad (hi Dad!) wrote me the other day asking who on earth these other models were in my Etsy shop! I don't imagine that you all watch my shop quite as closely as my own family, but in case anyone was wondering...
As you know, I take almost all of my pictures myself, with a self-timer, and man does it take forever. About a half hour per item, in fact. Last week I knew that the sun was going to be coming for a very short visit between storms, and I knew I had to work fast. When I am behind the camera, with an energetic model, I can really whip out the pictures, with a high degree of control over the light and the framing... it's really one of my favorite things to do, but would you ask your friends to stand in snow or wear bare sleeves when it is 35 degrees outside? I don't think so. As a result, I take on most of the winter modeling duties myself, gladly, but when I can get some help, I love it.
Bring on Chia, on a visit from Mendocino, and a perfect fit for these gorgeous dresses which I am consigning for a smaller-sized friend:
One of the things which I love most about Chia is that she is an unstoppable machine of Silly. If something is truly serious, she is a sincere and heartfelt human being, but fashion? For gods sakes!
If only my camera could have snapped pictures faster.... there were so many other funny poses in between these shots!
I love how Chai brought a smiling face to my shop... I am usually looking so darn serious (it's called High Drama, okay?) (it's okay to make fun of me, though) and it is nice to lighten things up for Spring! Chia never stops smiling. She is an actual certified Sprite.
Being a "poseur" used to be the ultimate insult when I was in high school. I have no idea why it was spelled with an "eur"- isn't that pretty affected in itself? It means the same as poser, and these days, what I relish- what I live for- is a great Poser. Enter Cynthia, the Girl of 1,000 poses. She has poses coming out of her ears.
She is a dancer, and I think that explains a lot. It was like she was made to win a Vogue-ing contest. Do they still have those? They should.
Cynthia made all of my 60s mod, 80s and 90s clothes look so good! And she was amazing to work with... even when an icy breeze picked up on the hill and she had to do jumping jacks to stay warm!
Hooray for posers, and a huge thanks to my friends for helping me out!
Doing photos for me is the culmination of all the work leading up to it,and my favorite part! You do such an amazing job on every level!well done!and your models rock!
