My friend Carabeth was the very first person to befriend me when I moved to the foothills from the Bay Area. She took me under her wing and introduced me to everyone in town, invited me to every party, and even showed me the best, secret swimming spot. She is a crafty, creative gal, and she used to run a brick and mortar store called Lay Swing with two other gals in downtown Grass Valley, where I used to hang out for hours, listening to vintage vinyl on their record player and ogling the yummy clothes and jewelry. I still have a giant Lay Swing bumper sticker on my car, which was starting to become a little random until just recently..... (-:
Fast forward a few years, and Carabeth has a four-year-old (with a song written especially for her on the most recent Joanna Newsom record), and Lay Swing Boutique has just launched their online Etsy shop! They carry awesome t-shirts (which can be altered for women), pillows, bags, and even hats. Carabeth is the seamstress extraordinaire, and many of the pieces feature the intricate stencil work of her partner Tahiti Pehrson (they are hand dyed and screen printed using hand cut paper stencils rather than photo emulsion). If you are a fan of new folk music, you will recognize Tahiti's signature style from the album art that he has done for his friends Mariee Sioux and Devendra Banhart.
Yes, that is a Morrissey pillow!
Get thee to shopping, girls...

I've always loved that you still rocked the bumper sticker after all those years! Turns out, you weren't behind the times, you were ahead of the curve :-)
